.Lorsque La Grande évasion fut projeté au Festival de Moscou, le film provoqua un mini-scandale. Le public russe fut en effet choqué de voir la manière dont étaient traités les prisonniers anglais et américains en période de guerre. Selon eux, leur emprisonnement était relativement confortable en comparaison avec le sort réservé aux soldats russes dans les camps allemands.

.When the Great escape was projected with the Festival from Moscow, the film caused a mini-scandal.  The Russian public was indeed shocked to see the way in which the English prisoners and American in period of war were treated.  According to them, their imprisonment was relatively comfortable in comparison with the fate reserved to the Russian soldiers in the German camps.
